It is important to follow the recommendation of your physician and physical therapist concerning post-operative exercise. Occasionally, exercise is limited because of some wound healing issues; however, it is important for you as a patient to follow the instructions carefully. This is especially true if your surgeon has asked you to limit your weight bearing while walking. While crutches can be helpful in certain situations, it is much easier to get around the house with a walker. If you put a basket on the front of your walker it will facilitate carrying things around the house from one place to the other while maintaining your weight bearing status.
