Our volunteers help guide patients through the challenges associated with a prosthetic joint infection. They are in a unique advisory position and each volunteer has successfully “walked the walk” through two major operations to cure a prosthetic joint infection.
Healing Joints offers peer to peer support to patients, family members, or caregivers via:
(1) Online visiting,
(2) Phone visiting, and
(3) Virtual connections.
Purpose

TO ENCOURAGE AND GIVE HOPE TO A PATIENT WITH AN INFECTED TOTAL JOINT

TO LISTEN TO THE CONCERNS/FEARS OF THE PATIENT

TO PROVIDE A SOUNDING BOARD FOR THE PATIENT

TO PROVIDE A RESOURCE FOR THE PATIENT

MAKE CONTACT WITHIN TWO DAYS OF BEING INFORMED ABOUT THE PATIENT

LISTEN TO WHAT HAPPENED TO THE PATIENT

LISTEN TO WHAT THE PATIENT SEES IN THEIR FUTURE

LISTEN TO WHAT THE PATIENT BELIEVES ARE THE PRO’S AND CON’S OF THE UPCOMING PROCEDURE

TELL ABOUT YOUR POSITIVE EXPERIENCE

FOLLOW UP WITH THE PATIENT IF THEY SAY THEY WOULD LIKE TO STAY IN TOUCH
-
GIVE YOUR NAME AND CONTACT INFORMATION SO THEY CAN CALL YOU IF THEY DECIDE THEY WANT TO AT A LATER DATE

DIRECT THE PATIENT TO OUR WEBSITE “HEALINGJOINTSCOM” TO ANSWER A VARIETY OF QUESTIONSRELATED TO THEIR RECOVERY
